About School

Bethany High is an ICSE and ISC affiliated school located in the sixth block of Kormangala, Bangalore, India. It has over 2500 students from Nursery through Class 12. Bethany High has an ISC Junior College, of Classes 11 and 12. There is also a Bethany Hostel for boarders and Bethany Special School for children with special needs. The school was founded by Mrs. Mignon David in 1963 and served as a hostel for children from 'Cottons' and 'Baldwins'.

The Bethany colors are green and black, with similar-colored uniforms. The Bethany High motto is "Thrust and Obey Me". This phrase appears in both, its school song and school hymn.
Bethany High has turned 50 in 2013 and opened up a new campus in sarjapura Road,which was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi's granddaughter Sumitra Kulkarni.

Bethany High follows the ICSE curriculum up till Class 10. Students are offered a choice of subjects from Groups II and III. Students can choose any two of Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Economics or Commercial Studies. From Group III, students can opt for any one subject out of Computer Applications, Commercial Applications, Economic Applications, Art, Drama or Physical Education. Students are also given a choice of Second Language from Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Sanskrit or French. The academic year begins in June and lasts to March of the following year. For classes 8, 9 and 10 (of the high school), there are two Unit Tests (of 20 marks) and two Term Exams (of 80 marks each). The Class 10 students will appear for the ICSE Board Examinations as their 10th standard finals in March.
For Classes 11 and 12 the school follows ISC. There are three streams a student can opt for; Science, Commerce or Arts (Humanities). The school offers subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Commerce, Accounts, Business Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Fine Arts and Physical Education. The Class 12 students appear for the ISC Board Examinations in March.
Both ICSE and ISC results have seen all the students having passed their exams.

Extracurricular :
The school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities such as NCC, band, abacus and clubs. Club activity is a part of the school activities and is compulsory for students from class II to VIII. Students can choose between the literary club, quiz club, drama club, chess club and art & craft club. The school also encourages sports such as cricket, football, basketball, table tennis and athletics.

Library :
Bethany High has four separate libraries to cater the needs of different age groups. The fascinating world of books is thrown open to tiny tots at our colourful Pre-Primary Library and Junior School Library. Children are allowed to touch and feel the books . Storytelling sessions are frequently held. The hard bound giant sized multi coloured books help to kindle their curiosity paving way for stepping into the Junior Library which caters to the Junior School.

Bethany Integrated Homes (Hostel) :
The Bethany Hostel was built around the concept of a home away from home. Its core objective is to provide a comfortable,cared for environment to children so they can concentrate whole-heartedly on their education.The campus grounds of the hostel are beautifully laid out with gardens, lawns, fountains and an expansive playground. All modern facilities including a full backup generator have been provided to make it a top flight residential facility.

DORMITORIES :
Separate dormitories are provided for boys and girls. Each of the two are large, airy, comfortable and cozy. The entire setup has been carefully planned to give children a sense of belonging to a group while still having their own personal area. Special care is taken for their comfort, health and safety. From mosquito nets over each of the beds to an adjacent warden’s room, the Hostel ensures comprehensive care for all the children.

STUDY AND RECREATION FACILITIES :
Every need of the resident children has been considered during the construction of the Hostel. A large study hall has been provided for them for use during the day. A smaller room adjoining each of the dormitories is available for students wanting to study at night.
An array of indoor and outdoor sports equipment is stored by the Hostel for recreation. From chess to table tennis, from football to cricket, children are pampered for choice in their leisure hours. Every month, a hostel party is organized with a host of fun games and contests in which all the boarders are invited to participate. Periodic games nights and restaurant nights are also conducted.

Awards & Achievements

- UTKARSH CHORARIA is a student of Bethany High School. This 12th grader is the winner of Horlicks Wizteam, South Asia’s largest cultural, literary and arts fest which witnessed more than 2 lakh students participating from 5 countries across South Asia; India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangaladesh. The South Asian finals required great display of leadership skills, critical thinking, team building skills and more than 70 other criteria. The quality of the competition, Horlicks Wizkids, is always been enthralling. He won himself a scholarship of Rs. 1,00,000 and also a trip to South Africa.

-The Bethany Cricket Team (Under 16) was awarded the Third Best Cricket Team by the Karnataka State Cricket Association
