National Public School (NPS), Koramangala, Bangalore is part of the well-known National Public Schools group which includes six schools in Bangalore and one in Chennai. Established in 2003, NPS Koramangala is a co-educational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The NPS schools are well-known for delivering academically rigorous curriculums through a wide range of activity-based, audio-visual and group-based teaching methods. Participation in co-curricular and sports activities is also encouraged.

The mission of NPS Kormangala is to provide superior college preparation and liberal arts education opportunities to young people. Currently the school enrolls 1,200 students and offers a teacher-student ratio of 1:10.

Campus Details

NPS, Koramangla offers large, well-ventilated classrooms with bulletin boards to display and encourage creative, informative and academic endeavors of students. The library is fully computerized and has a collection of over 10,000 books which includes encyclopedia, dictionaries, reference books, textbooks, teacher's resources, newspapers, periodicals and in-house publications. The library also has a vast collection of audio cassettes, CD-ROMs, DVDs, charts, maps, newspapers, journals and magazines.

The computer lab extends to two floors and has 60 computers with a student-computer ratio of 1:1. The faculty also has a separate computer lab with broadband internet connection.

The science laboratory has separate sections for biology, physics and chemistry with latest equipment and specimens. Primary, middle school and senior school students use the labs extensively. A well-equipped math lab helps students to use their mathematical abilities to improve analytical reasoning and lateral thinking through various games and activities. Various mathematical models and projects are exhibited in the lab.

The school also has an art room in which various styles of art ranging from modern art, folk art, object study; landscaping and decorative styles are taught.
Sports facilities for basketball, volleyball, throw ball and badminton are provided on campus.
All faculty members have undergone a course in first aid so that they are equipped to handle emergencies.

Students of National Public School, Koramangala have participated and won laurels in various competitions like Catch Them Young by Infosys, the International Mathematics Olympiad, National Science Olympiad, National Talent Search Examination Scholars, CSI IT Quiz, National Cyber Olympiad, IISc Astrophysics Science Competition, Verbattle, I-CUBE, Horlicks Wizkids, Cascades, Innowaves, Clue Quest, Quiz-ardry, Spellstar and Resurgence.

About Teachers/Faculty

Teacher Orientation Programmes are conducted at the beginning of every academic year during the 3rd week of May at National Public School, Koramangala.

Dr. Bindu Hari and her team of co-ordinators make presentations and conduct inter-active sessions on Assertive Communication, Behaviour Management and Classroom Management and Procedures. These sessions go a long way in honing teacher skills and also serve to initiate the new recruits into the climate and culture of National Public Schools. The new teachers learn to re-assess and reform their management skills in an atmosphere of cordiality, friendliness and warmth.
Our teachers have participated in seminars organized by NCERT for master trainers in various subjects and also Adolescence Education Programmes. Teachers from NPS Koramangala regularly participate in seminars that are addressed by eminent educationists from all over the world organized by The Association of International Schools of India (TAISI) for teachers and administrators. Energy conservation, Life skills and Space Sciences are among the other fields where our teachers have attended workshops that have been of immense benefit in the upgradation of their knowledge and skills.

Admission Details

Admission to National Public School, Koramangala, is open for the Montessori, Kindergarten I, and class I to X and XI sections.

Process
The application form can be downloaded from the school website and submitted along with copies of birth certificate, academic progress report of the past three years from the previous school (applicable to class II and above) and a Demand Draft for Rs.300/- in favour of National Public School, Bangalore.

Filled applications can be submitted from December 3 onwards on working days between 09:30 am to 12:00 noon.

Applications for admission in KG II are not accepted as there are no vacancies in this class. Admissions to classes I to IX and class XI are finalized based on the performance in the written admission test conducted in the month of April / May. Students who have to appear for the written test will receive intimation letters by end of March.

Academics Details

The school is affiliated with CBSE and offers pre-primary to class XII.

Learning is imparted through activity-oriented lessons, stimulating hands-on work and extensive co-curricular activities. Children are taught through projects, multimedia presentations, group work and collaborative learning, circle time and worksheets designed to encourage lateral thinking.

The preschool follows the Montessori system of education where each child is attended to individually and is allowed to progress at his or her own pace. The teaching methods hone skills like problem-solving, decision-making and creative thinking.

Extracurricular: Children participate in club activities such as needle work, cookery, puppet making, jewellery making, flower arrangement, origami etc. Other activities such as yoga, dance, music, art/craft and physical education also form a part of the co-curricular activities Field trips to recreational parks, post office, traffic parks, recycling plants, planetarium, museums, fire-station and industrial establishments are organised

The physical and health education program forms an essential part of the school activities. Sports instructors train students in games such as basketball, volleyball, throw ball and badminton. The school also has an indoor badminton court. Every student undergoes training in yoga at least once a week, where professional yoga instructors give them individual attention.

The school has a devised a special reading program apart from library classes within the curriculum, under which, classrooms also house library books and maintain a reading log to encourage reading.

Students are trained and given the opportunity to develop their talents in debates, JAM, dumb charades, plays, creative writing and public speaking. Under the banner of Magic Fingers and Reflections, students are encouraged to develop their aesthetic sense and develop skills in painting, poster-making and clay modeling.
