About School

At the Vidyalaya, we believe that young people grow and learn through experiences.
Out of experience come certain general guides to behaviour. These guidelines give direction to our lives and may be called "Values". Since we see values as growing from students' experience we would expect that these could be modified as experiences accumulate and change. Hence, processes are as important as product.
We therefore encourage children to make informed choices and to make them freely.
Help children discover alternatives when faced with choices, weigh alternatives thoughtfully reflecting on the consequences of each alternative.
Encourage children to consider what it is that they prize and cherish, give them opportunities to affirm their choices, encourage them to act, behave and live in accordance with their choices.

Campus Details

• The Vidyalaya is a sturdy building which houses sixty regular class rooms and a large auditorium, well-equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Home Science and a Science Activity Centre, a Maths Activity Centre, a Computer Unit, a spacious library with over 25,000 volumes, rooms for music, art, dance, theatre a studio for clay-modelling, and provisions for ikebana, bakery, food preservation, a counselling unit, staff rooms and a well-stocked canteen.


• Sardar Patel Vidyalaya has two libraries. The senior school library is an open shelf library surrounded by Ashoka trees, it has a modern look and is well lighted.


• The Medical Centre also maintains a regularly updated medical report of each child.


• A large air cooled auditorium with a seating capacity of 1000 students and good acoustics is the heart of facilities at the Vidyalaya.

Awards & Achievements

• SPV has produced a number of Rhodes scholars.
  In 2006, for example, three of the five Indian Rhodes Scholars were alumni of SPV.
  In 2005, two of the six were SPV alumni.


• The school is widely respected for its unique value based education system and its activity oriented teaching methodology.


• On the sports front its students have toured England every summer since 1985 to play cricket and it has contributed six players to the Indian cricket team.


• The school is also the alma mater of the grandchildren of both the current Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and past Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee.
